The presidency will thus allow Czech foreign policy to influence European policy towards the Western Balkans. What the priorities will be and how the Czech presidency will influence the policy of the EU towards the western Balkans remains to be seen. What is the current situation of preparations for Serbia to join the EU and what can Serbia expect from the Czech presidency?

Regardless of old friendships with individuals from the Minister’s staff, we didn’t manage to get the interview sooner, since his busy schedule was booked solid. An opportunity to conduct an interview came up unexpectedly after he returned from Moscow, where he’d attended the funeral of Patriarch Alexei.
